I think a year long course for each phase would be ideal. They are both in school and would benefit more from slow-and-steady rather than a time-intensive commitment. Otherwise they may get discouraged and quit since they have busy lives. Just my $.02 (as we say in the USA)

Great idea! Looking forward to start date also. Reason being that my nephew and daughter are both quite interested in starting to learn to play guitar. I have helped some people get off the ground with learning guitar in past years when I had more time, but I never had a structured way of doing this. We would probably set up a weekend date for the three of us to meet and go over that week's lesson in the Ernie Ball book. It would be great if we could make your beginner guitar video series part of the weekly group-lessons with the two of them also, as a way to build a framework for a methodical way to get them on their way learning the guitar. They are both quite excited about the idea, and it will take some of the load off of me to be able to rely on a methodical book like the Ernie Ball book that you mentioned, along with being able to benefit from your pointers. I dont have a lot of time to plan out a lesson strategy for them, but if we could follow along with you on a weekly basis, they would both love it!

Atanu

I take a few things from the C-Major Play along. 1st, If you play simple songs up and down the neck with just one string you tend to learn the names of the notes all the way up the neck which is very helpful. The 2nd lesson I take from this is: that there is more than one way to do things. Notice he's playing with one finger, then 3 fingers all on one string, then on 2 or 3 strings. But, yet it's the same song, same notes.

Regarding the theory part its ok for me….but I couldn’t get anything from the C-major play along video…what should i play?…or how can i fill the blank fret-board diagram…totally confused…please suggest…… I mean what should I do??? Should I follow….C_D_E_F_G_A_B_C on each string????? For example…for 2nd sring (B-string) it should be 1-3-5-6-8-10-12-1 (Fret numbers)….for 1st string (E-string) it should be 8-10-12-1-3-5-7 (Fret numbers)…..like that???????

Then How can I combine 2 or 3 strings with that….

Plz help me out…..

John

Something that I'm just curious about is;

Is there some real amazing explanation why when the 5th note is sharp its called augmented and if its flat then it's diminished, instead of just sharp or flat?
